Hipólito Pires was one of the creators of Portaro, in 1975, the first Portuguese Off-Road

He led SHA, Sociedade Hispânica de Automóveis, until 2003, being the main responsible for the implantation of the Spanish brand in Portugal. It also had under its purview the Daihatsu.

The pilot also created the long-awaited Trophy Marbella, which contributed to the appearance of national drivers, consecrated by his background, as is the case of Rui Madeira.
