Emerson Fittipaldi is a two-time Formula 1 World Champion, having secured the title in the 1972 and 1974 seasons. He started racing karts at the age of 14. Seven years later, he became the Formula Vee champion, driving a car built by himself and his brother. In 1969, he arrived in Formula Ford. That same year, he won the Formula 3 World Championship title. He also secured 4th place in the European Formula 2 Championship. In 1970, Emerson Fittipaldi made his Formula 1 debut at the British Grand Prix, driving a Lotus 49C. Two years later, with a victory at the Italian Grand Prix, the Brazilian driver secured his fi rst Formula 1 World Championship title with the Lotus 72D, becoming the fi rst Brazilian to win the title and the youngest champion in the pinnacle of motorsport, a record he held for over 30 years. In 1974, Fittipaldi won his second Formula 1 title, this time at the wheel of a McLaren M23. In 1984, Fittipaldi made his IndyCar debut, fi nishing in 5th place. That same year, he raced his fi rst Indianapolis 500. In 1989, Emerson Fittipaldi became the fi rst Brazilian driver to be crowned IndyCar champion. That same year, he achieved victory in the legendary Indianapolis 500, leading the race for 158 of the 200 laps. During his time in IndyCar, the Brazilian driver secured 22 victories and started from pole position 17 times. Throughout his Formula 1 career, Emerson Fittipaldi lined up for 149 Grands Prix, stepping onto the top step of the podium in 14 of them.
