He has been competing in the Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica since 2018. In 2011 and 2012, he became the National Rallycross runner-up, and in the following two years, 2013 and 2014, he won the national championship title in the same discipline. Hugo Lopes took second place in the National 2WD Rally Championship in the 2019 season. In 2023, he was the Junior National Champion, runner-up in the CPR-2WD, and also claimed the title in the Rally&You Portugal Cup. He competes in the Peugeot Rally Cup Portugal and Ibérica, having just won the 65th edition of the legendary Rali Vinho Madeira at the wheel of his Peugeot 208 Rally4. This third victory of the season in the Peugeot Rally Cup Portugal allows him to virtually secure his first title of 2024.
