He has competed in various branches of motorsport, achieving several national titles. He was crowned National Formula Ford Champion in 1995 and 1997. In 1999, he won the National Racing Championship title. In 2009, José Pedro Fontes became the Portuguese Circuit Champion, a feat he repeated in 2011, the year he also won the Iberian Supercars Trophy. He was the winner of the 24 Hours TT – Fronteira in 2010 and 2013. He once again became the National Racing Champion in 2014, and in the same year, fi nished second in the Portuguese Rally Championship. He was crowned National Rally Champion in two consecutive years, 2015 and 2016.
